The laboratory has been functional for a year and students have presented their research findings inside and outside Puerto Rico.

(Aguadilla, P.R. - February 22, 2024) Given the multiple proposals approved in the area of research in the sciences at the University of Puerto Rico in Aguadilla (UPRAg), the Molecular and Cellular Biology Laboratory was inaugurated yesterday, thanks to the efforts of various grant funds directed by Dr. Juliana Pérez Laspiur, principal investigator and director of said space.

"The laboratory has been functional for a year, having been built in what used to be a classroom, and it arose when I identified the need for a space and scientific research equipment to train our students in molecular and cellular biology techniques, and their application in studies related to biomedicine, immunology and agricultural sciences," said Juliana Pérez Laspiur, principal investigator at UPR Aguadilla.

"Being able to have the space to grow, learn and be challenged in a place that provides comfort and security, along with my classmates and my mentor is an opportunity that this laboratory has given me," said Marielys Morales, a student of the Biology Program with emphasis in Genetics at UPR Aguadilla.
